‘Rafi continues to rule hearts’

Legends never die; they live forever and leave footprints which others follow for generations.

One such legend was Mohammad Rafi, who died at a very young age, but even after 37 years of his death; his fans,followers and music lovers adore him and try to follow his style of singing.

Rafi’s unforgettable songs will resonate in the air for long and long years to come.

As a tribute to this legendary singer, an event was organised in Sydney by Sangeet Mehfil team   at ‘The Theatre, Bankstown Sports Club on September 9, 2017 which was attended by over 400 Rafi fans who not only enjoyed the evening by listing to super hit songs but also got a chance to present their choice of songs to the singers and listen to their favourite numbers.

This was the 37th event organised by Saleem Zamaan – a die-hard fan of Rafi to pay homage to this legendary singer on his death anniversary. This year the theme was ‘Rafi- Devanand Era’.

The packed hall was ample testimony to the popularity of Mohammad Rafi and the attendance was a tribute also to the Sangeet Mehfil’s team and the team lived up to it.

The singers including Saleem Zamaan, Pushpa Jagdish and Sirisha Telugu took the audience to a musical voyage with their soulful singing.  The concert started with Saleem Zamaan’s ‘Akela Hoon Mein’ song and then he along with his co-singers presented one after another super hit songs from Rafi-Devanand Era.

The traditional “farmaaish” session of the concert included some popular songs rendered for Devanand by other legendary singers like Hemant Kumar and Kishore Da to oblige several requests from the fans.
