On their visit to India , NSW Opposition Leader Luke Foley and Daniel Mookhey MLC visited  Gandhinagar today and met Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat.

The NSW Government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the state of Gujarat – and NSW Labor has affirmed its commitment to strengthening the ties between two states.

“The economic development of Gujarat and NSW is closely tied,” Foley said.

“There are many opportunities for our two states to share knowledge as we grow. There are definitely opportunities to collaborate closely on education and skills and building smart cities.

“The relationship with Gujarat is good for NSW.

“So much of our future is bound together and sharing expertise is a critical way for both of our states to see positive development.”

“One example is the Gujarat financial tech hub which includes a range of innovations that could be used at our own Barangaroo. And as Barangaroo takes shape in Sydney, there will be information and learning we can share with Gujarat.”

Mookhey said, “Gujarat and NSW already have close ties – Labor is committed to strengthening this relationship even further.

“It is exciting to be involved in the development of enhanced cooperation moving forward.”
