To support the ongoing movement, Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) Victoria, chapter of the political anti corruption revolution of India called as Aam Aadmi Party, commemorated Shaheed Diwas (Martyr’s Day) on 23rd March 2014 at United Voice, North Melbourne.
AAP Victorian team offered tributes to Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev who laid their life for Indian Independence.
A meeting was held in this connection in which various issues related to the current situation in India were discussed.
This event was an occasion to remember the supreme sacrifice of life, done by the three heroes- Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, with a smile on their young faces. Bhagat Singh was not just a spirited youngster, just 23 yrs of age, but also profound and forward thinking leader.
The event was well attended by members and supporters of this anti corruption movement, patriotic Indians and others from all over Victoria.
40 activists including Imtiaz Khan (Wyndham City Councillor ) attended the meeting. The party members also talked about as how they can support the Aam Aami Party.
On this occasion an online conference with Dr Kumar Vishwas and Brad Mishra (Australian National Coordinator) was held . Brad is in Indian from last year November to help AAP.
Kumar Vishwas / Brad Mishra addressed AAP Australia teleconference and answered volunteer questions . Victorian supporters and members took this opportunity to ask questions from Kumar Vishwas about the challenges he is facing in Amethi and in India, fighting against corrupt government and politicians.
Local Wyndham city councillor Imtiaz Khan addressed the audience and provided moral support for AAP ideology. Intaj Khan, also spoke a few words about his and his families’ experiences in India with corrupt practices and also gave general words of advice re fund raising and gathering volunteer support.
Many attendees had questions about vision of Aam Aadmi Party for transforming India from a corruption laden country to Gandhian ideals of swaraj(self rule).
Namita Pandey addressed the meeting and engaged with audience and explained AAP ideology.
Namita Pandey also explained citizen calling campaign (CCC) AAP Victoria to adopt Chandigarh constituency where Gul Panag is contesting against Kirron Kher.
Anuja Jain and Nitish Jain volunteered for content /graphic design work.
Under Manoj Kumar Nayak all current active team members discussed team restructure so that people can take ownership of the tasks to achieve better outcomes for AAP.
Manoj Kumar Nayak holds the responsibility to convey team restructure to Brad Mishra and ensure other states are okay with him to act as Acting national convener.
The local volunteers took this occasion to select a new core committee and to distribute responsibilities amongst the core committee.
The names of the AAP volunteers and their roles include Brad Mishra / Manoj Kumar Nayak (Acting) as National convener, Ravi Sharma – Media Co-ordination , Sameer Momin – Events Coverage , Vijaya Laxmiji and Rajveer Singh – Community Engagement , Anuja Jain –Content Development, Rakesh Prajapati and Manoj Kholia – Volunteer Engagement. Rakesh Prajapati has been appointed as the state convenor and will appoint Awareness Co-ordination group.
Sachin Sambhus will raise the funds for the party and TBA is the awareness Co-ordination Group.
Sameer Momin also addressed audience and called for volunteers whereas Ravi Sharma, informed about a Rajastani community event happening soon.
A Flash mob dance will be held at Fed square soon –to raise awareness regarding AAP.
Weekly meetings for AAP Victoria team are conducted by Manoj Kumar/Rakesh Prajapati every Sunday between 2-4 pm where they discuss various issues related to Indian community and also the ideology of the AAP party.
