After a successful NSW Government trial over summer, more than 80 public schools will throw open their gates these school holidays to allow everyone in the community to enjoy the playgrounds, ovals and sports courts on offer in schools including South Strathfield Public.

The New South Wales Government launched an expanded Share Our Space Program that will provide access to enjoy 81 school playground during the coming school holidays.

The $30 million Share Our Space Program follows Monday’s $120 million commitment to secure strategic open spaces for public use and to build more than 200 new and improved playgrounds.

The trial last summer was so successful that the NSW Government is extending it to almost double the number of schools next holidays, giving families more options to use valuable open space in community’s right across the State including in Strathfield.

The announcements will also mean schools such as Strathfield South Public are going to be experiencing a wave of activity over the next school holiday period.

“It’s fantastic to see members of the community taking advantage of playgrounds and other school assets during the school holidays with everyone welcome to come and enjoy the schools outdoor facilities from 8am to 6pm, 7 days a week, from 16 April to 27 April 2018” said  Farlow.

“Making schools such as Strathfield South Public School more accessible outside of the school term means that families and other members of the community will benefit”, Farlow said.

Schools participating in the programme will receive a $5000 grant that they can use to help upgrade their facilities for community and school use.
