More than 3000 multicultural students across 20 schools in Western Sydney will benefit from the GWS Giants’ Stephen Coniglio-Amanda Farrugia Community Program.

The NSW Liberals & Nationals Government announced it will provide $400,000 over four years to establish the program — an investment made possible thanks to the strong economic management of the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government.

Minister for Multiculturalism Ray Williams said young people in Western Sydney will have access to GIANTS’ AFL and AFLW mentors to learn about Australian culture and the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle.

“It’s great to see Stephen Coniglio and Amanda Farrugia use their platforms to encourage young migrants to connect with their local community through sport,” Williams said.

“The program will also offer participants a healthy breakfast in the morning, to ensure they have the fuel needed to perform in class and on the sporting field.”

Member for Holsworthy Melanie Gibbons said the funding demonstrates the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government’s commitment to supporting multicultural communities.

“The funding will empower local multicultural youth to participate in an AFL program with social and physical benefits,” Ms Gibbons said.

Giants CEO David Matthews, welcomed the funding announcement.

“This is great news for the Giants and I’m delighted as the AFL’s youngest club, we are playing a proactive role with the NSW Government in strengthening local communities in Western Sydney,” Matthews said.

Over the last year, the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government has provided more than $23 million to multicultural communities.
